ABOUT ME

OK, let's do the serious part first:

I am accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and adhere to their code of ethics. I have completed over 300 hours of coach training and over 1200 hours of coaching experience.
I spent 20+ years as a human resources leader in various industries and another 25 years in property management in leadership roles.

Phew! OK, on to the fun part:

What prompted me to become a laughter coach?

I first learned laughter coaching back in the 1980s. I had moved to Santa Barbara, California, from my home in England. I thought life was ahead of me, and I didn't realize how much emotional baggage I carried. I thought I had left my problems behind me!

The only "problem" I thought I had was that I couldn't find the man of my dreams! Everyone I knew was doing something spiritual or self-help, and I joined a group to learn Co-Counseling. (See CoCo tab). Our teacher was working on her PhD in psychology and was writing her thesis on laughter therapy. I was active in her classes for several years, then found the man of my dreams and moved away.

The ensuing years brought me a lot of opportunities and a lot of heartache. I participated in therapy and anti-depressants a few times, realizing I had not left my problems behind when I left England. My weight ballooned to 270# (120+ kg), and I ended up in the rooms of 12-step recovery for food and alcohol addiction.

A wonderful young woman entered my life one day. She was delightfully self-assured and had a magical way of getting along with everyone. I knew I wanted what she had! She told me about her training as a coach, and within a few weeks, I was signed up at the same coach training institute. That was in 2017, and I have never looked back.

I left the corporate world in 2018 to build my coaching business. Soon after that, Covid-19 hit, and the world turned upside down. By 2021 I started hunting CoCo teachers as I knew what most people around me and I would benefit from. I spent 18 months re-learning CoCo and how to facilitate CoCo learning groups, and now I am a laughter coach!
